I had the blinking AC light and intermitent hot air from the blowers. The
dealership said the AC control was the culprit. It was replace but I'm
still not comfortable in the car. The vents on the passenger side are 10
degrees colder than those on the driver's side. They said that was
normal.

This AC used to crank. Is it just time for another car or are they missing
something?

Although your AC switch is fixed, here's what I posted a while back about
the root cause and how to fix it.

John

The AC was switching off because the "Fan Off" switch was intermittently
indicating the fan was switched off.  Inside the HVAC controller is a PCB
through which the shaft for the fan speed knob protrudes.  On the fan switch
(behind the PCB) there are a couple of copper brushes that are shorted
together which press against two circular traces on the back of the PCB.
One of the traces is removed at the point where the fan switch is in the off
position.  When the fan is on, there is electrical continuity from one trace
to the other through the two shorted brushes.  This continuity indicates to
the controller that the fan is switched on and the AC can run.  When the fan
is off, there is an open circuit between the two traces and the controller
disables the AC.  Buildup of grime can cause high resistance between the
brushes and the traces which can result in a false "fan off/disable AC"
signal to the controller.  I cleaned the brushes and the traces with alcohol
and the system has since worked fine.  I had this same problem occur under
warranty and the dealership installed a new HVAC controller.  A new HVAC
controller costs $350, by the way.
