My very low mileage (~17K) 2001 Intrigue recently started exhibiting the
following:
Applying light brake pressure at speeds of 50 mph and greater on a straight
road, as well as at 30 mph on corners, curves, downhill ramps and driveways
results in a mild pulsating sensation emanating from the brake pedal. The
pulsating can also be mildly felt within the vehicle, although I can't
really describe it - a minor, but steady vibration that seems to come from
the center front of the car.
I had a friend drive it, without giving any clues of the problem, and he
concluded the same "feel." From the passenger seat, I can even hear the
rumble.
Brake pads are in excellent shape, so I'm presuming there's something faulty
with the ABS.
Any ideas?

Out of round brake drums can do this, also excess runout of the rear rotors
is possible. You need good mech to drive this for a proper diagnosis.

your rotors may be warped. you can either take them off your car and
take them and have them turned at a brake shop or parts store, (if you
can find a parts store that does it). buy new ones and swap them, or
take your car somewhere where they do brakes and have them do one of
the two. your front rotors are probably warped, so get those turned or
replaced first and see if that fixes it. if not, do the rear. if your
rotors are too warped they should tell you if they can’t turn them
because they may be too thin. turning shouldn’t be more than about $30
for the front and about $30 for the rear. or new rotors all the way
around will be about $85 for the cheapest at Checker, Schucks, or
Kragen.
