All of a sudden my car started saying, "LOW COOLANT" and the temperature
gauge was high. So I went to WalMart, bought Dex-Cool and distilled water
and filled it up. Problem solved. But within the next two weeks I had to
keep putting in more and more, although the temperature gauge never went
up again. So now, after 2 gallons of coolant/water, it's empty again.
When I open the surge tank, it looks like black mud in the bottom of it.
What do I need? A flush? A new tank? I'm a grandma on low income--will
this be real expensive? I don't want to get taken. Any help??

You need to have the cooling system checked to see where the coolant loss is
first. Could be anywhere around the engine.
