How Do I Use Vent Without the Compressor Being On?

Hi all,

I just picked up a very nice 91 Olds Cutlass Supreme SL with the automatic
heating/cooling system.  You just sent the temperature you want and it cools
or heats.  Now, I looked all over the operating manual and cannot figure out
how to turn the compressor off, say for vent.  I can't find any reference to
this.  So, how does one operate the type of system so vent can be used with
just fresh air.  Ya, I could disconnect the compressor.  And turning the
whole system off does turn it (compressor) off but no upper vents come on.

Thanks,

Andy

Other GM groups have posted wiring in a switch in line with the compressor.
Mount it somewhere in your dash.  THis will allow the vents and blower to
operate, and the compressor stays off.

Thanks,

It is the first car I ever had where the compressor can't be shut off.  I
suppose in the winter it will because of low temps.
