FOR THREE WEEKS MY WELL MAINTAINED CAR WILL ONLY START WHEN IT WANTS TO.
THE MECHANIC HAS BEEN ALL OVER THE CAR LOOKING FOR PROBLEMS AND IS JUST
STUMPED BY THE CARS PROBLEM. WEATHER HAS NO BEARING ON THE PROBLEM. WHEN
IT DOES START, IT RUNS FINE. HELP.

Hi,
Does it make any sound at all when you try to turn it over? Clicking,
bumping, grinding, anything? Do the windshield wipers, lights, radio,
and stuff work properly when you can't start it?
Thanks

HI, THE CAR DOES ALL OF THE ABOVE. IT APPEARS
TOTALLY NORMAL. SOMETIMES IT WILL START AND
SOMETIMES IT WON'T BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS FINE.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE.

I have a 79 Delta 88 that had a similar problem. Check the HEI ignition
module. If that is good then check for a short going to it. I was replacing
the modules every 3 months because the car would start when it felt like it.
I still keep a spare on hand so I don't get stuck, (old habits die hard) but
since I found the wiring problem it has been running great for 6 months with
one module...hope that helps

I got clued in. There are settlements for owners of new & used GM cars due
to faulty mechanic work done on most all GM cars. Go to the General Motors
website and check it out....
