I have an Olds Intrigue (1999) the heat /ac control panel does not always
come on at start-up. (Or at all)
I replaced the module with one from a recycle yard.
Same problem.

With the engine running, I disconnect the plug to the module and re-plug it
in and the display lights up, but I have no control over the direction of
the heat flow.
Any ideas!
Thanks

After thinking over your symptoms and taking a look at the schematic for
your HVAC system my best guess would be a poor ground for the module.  You
might try checking the black wire's resistance to a known good ground.

Conversely you should check the orange wire for 12 volts when it's connected
to the module.

In case anyone is interested...the problem turned out to be the ignition
switch,
