I have a 1995 Olds Cutlass Supreme, automatic transmission, 145,000 miles
with that wonderful security system that won't let you use a key with out
the chip in it and it automatically locks the doors once you put it in
gear. I do not have an electronic door lock key chain with this car.
Yesterday drove the car, stopped to eat and when we came out, I unlocked
the car with my key for the door, got in the car and it wouldn't start.
Checked the battery, it was charged. Security light kept flashing when
key was engaged. Tow driver tried to "bump" it off in case it was starter
and the car started and immediately shut down. HELP!!! I called a
Chevrolet dealership and they said I would have to tow it to them and the
least amount they have ever charged on a anti-theft system is $800. I
only paid $500 for the car! Any help or ideas about this anti-theft
device would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

You may need a new tumbler with a new set of ignition keys. I had a
similar problem with my 1994 Olds Cutlass Supreme, AT, and about the
same milage.
The metal piece in that black plastic square must close a circuit in
the tumbler for the car to start. After some time it wears out and you
must replace the tumbler and matching ignition keys. You can have the
work done at an automotive shop dealing with electric systems instead
of the dealer.
