Hello, I own a 92 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cierra Cruiser V6 3300 liter engine and all it takes is a really cold night to make the piece of junk want to hibernate all winter. My problem is that on thanksgiving I started my car up no problem and it idled for about half a minute before completely cutting out on me. Any further attempts to start the car have met with failure and it has been some ammount of days since it's done anything save for trying to turn over, but never catching
The battery seems to work well as I can run all lights, radio, wipers, heater/ac, dome light, power locks and such all at once so it's not a battery issue since the last couple days I've tried to jump it without any success
The air filter is only slightly dirty but I hear from mechanics and such that it is better to have a slightly diry air filter than a brand new one but when smelling it, I don't smell any gas at all. I'm not sure if that is normal or not
My only guess is it is something with the fuel tank/filter/lines as I can smell gas after trying to start the car, but never strong enough to really indicate a leak but I don't smell any by the engine when the hood is open. I have more than 3/4 a tank of gas at present.
Since I have just moved over a distance, I am broke, unemployed, and very unable to afford any repairs on the vehicle, let alone buy parts, or any guages to know what readings to get and since I wouldn't undertand that part of it in the first place, it wouldn't help me. Some male I turn out to be.
Since I don't trust any mechanic in town as my old Dodge kept breaking down magically after they fixed it, I don't want to rely on them unless I'm standing right there and if I can't then I'd take my car elsewhere since they'd most likely rip me off. But since I have no money to tow it farther than I can throw a stone, that's also out of the pan
If anyone can offer a guy who can't tell the difference between a head gasket to a waterpump, I'd appreciate it greatly as I desperately need help to get it working soon. Thank you for your time and efforts

What you need is a magic wand to wave over this for an instant cure, your
comments in your post indicate inabiltiy to deal with this either from the
stand point of technical ability or money.

If the temperature has been below freezing - try 1 can of gas line
antifreeze (dry-gas) in the tank.

The engine may be flooded. Try starting it with the gas pedal pressed hard
to the floor.

Tried the fuel line antifreeze and it didn't meet with success, As the gas pedal push wasn't any help either. I do appreciate the suggestions that were given to me and I hope they can keep comming as I am desperate to get that thing to work

Yes althought I'm not sure the plugin works so I'll try that, otherwise, no

Quick question on that as well, with the fuel pump, electric or not, would it still emit a gaseous smell after attempts to start the car if it is clogged or in need of replacement? I assume that yes if it's cracked open and leaking fuel, but since I can't find the source for the fumes yet, I'm not sure where to look for the filter itself. Thanks for your help and hard work
