Fuel Filter:

A fuel filter is used in the fuel feed pipe ahead of the fuel injection
system. The fuel filter is mounted on the right side of the underbody. The
fuel filter housing is constructed of steel with a quick-connect fitting at
the inlet of the fuel filter and a threaded fitting at the outlet of the
fuel filter. The filter element is made of paper and is designed to trap
particles suspended in the fuel that may damage the injection system.
There is no service interval for in-line fuel filter replacement. Only
replace the in-line fuel filter if it is restricted.

Removal Procedure

Remove the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield
Replacement .
Remove the MAP sensor electrical connector (2) from the MAP sensor (1).
Remove the MAP sensor (1).
Use a 16 mm socket to press the access cover (2) down and rotate 1/4 turn
counterclockwise.
Remove the access cover.
Remove the PCV valve (3) and the O-ring (4) from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure

Install the crankcase ventilation valve (3) ; replace the O-ring (4) if
necessary.
Install the access cover (2).
Install the MAP sensor.
Install the MAP sensor electrical connector (2) to the MAP sensor (1).
Install the fuel injector sight shield. Refer to Fuel Injector Sight Shield
Replacement .
