I'm a disabled,53years old,woman and I just bought a car. 94 olds Ciera, 6
cyl. It had some tires replaced and battery charged and was good to go, or
so I thought. After driving it for about 3-4 days, it sat for 1-3 days. I
attempted to go to the store and got in and it would not turn over, no
power of any kind. I even checked to make sure the battery was still
there. So, I thought it was a bad battery and got it replaced. So, it good
and 1-2 days later it's doing the same exact thing again!!!!! Can someone
help me to figure this out? Thanks

One simple possibility (I've done it on my Ciera) is that one of the map
lights on the bottom edge of the inside rear view mirror has been left
on. Can be hard to tell they are on depending on outside lighting
conditions.

Have you had the alternator tested ?? It may not be re-charging the battery.

What would I need to do to the map light, take it out? I kinda wondered
about the alternator. It will completely drain the battery with the car
parked? Thank you Reed

The map lights, if on, can just be turned off by the switches on the
front lower edge of mirror.

Normally a defective alternator won't by itself "drain" a battery, but
will not recharge the battery as you drive.

Only if it has a shorted diode, the main reason would be to insure
that it is charging the battery. You could drive for awhile on a fully
charged battery that isn't being recharged, but the computer and radio
would easily finish draining it.

Before that, check that things like the trunk and glovebox lights are
not staying on all the time. If not, that could easily drain the
battery after a day or 2.

Now I did find that my map light was on and turned it off. If I get a jump
will that do or should I get it charged completely? Thank you  I hope that
is all it is.

Try a jump start and run the car for 1/2 hour without any electrical drain
ie headlights. That should do it.

Make sure whoever jumps the car gets the connections correct Black=negative
and Red= positive. Getting them reversed is a big NO NO.
Good luck.
