1988 Olds Delta 88, Chiming Won't Stop

The warning chime goes off continually.  I would like to know if anyone else
had or has this problem.  The car doesn't need to be running, the keys
aren't in the ignition and I haven't left the lights on.  Yet as soon as the
driver's door is opened that stupid chiming starts.  The chimer is a
function of the driver alert system, and is also connected to the door open
switch.  I can eliminate the chime by depressing the door open switch which
also controls the dome light. What I really want to know is where the hell
is the chime mechanism so I can rip it the hell out of there.  I've looked
through the repair manual and the schematic/wiring diagram doesn't give the
location.  If anyone has removed their chime module I'd really appreciate it
if you would share with me on how you did it.    Thanks

I have this same problem sometimes with my 1992 Olds 98--- I am just
going to pull the chime out if it does it again.
