Intrigue front license plate bracket

I'm thinking of purchasing a used Intrigue.  I live in a state that doesn't
require a front license plate.  The Intrigue I'm at which I'm looking has a
front plate now.  I would like to know if the plate bracket is attached
using screws that cause holes in the smooth front end.  I like the clean
look of the Intrigue without the plate.

Does anyone have any information about this?

Not sure about the Intrigue, but the Alero uses rivits to attach the
bracket.

thanks...I wish it would be removable...but I'll live with it if not.

My new 2002 Intrigue came with the front license bracket in a plastic bag
and metal screws for attaching it.  There are three very small indentations
molded into the smooth front of the machine for starting the screws.  You
can scarcely see them, but they are plainly visible when wax gets trapped in
them.  My guess is that if you take the bracket off you will find some
unsightly screw holes.

You are correct, sir.  I got the car today and sure enough, there are holes
in it.  I'm probably just going to buy a nose bra for it.  That'll cover the
holes and rock-pecked front cap.

You're right about that rock pecking.  My machine (actually my wife's
machine) is only a year and a half old, but the front end has taken more
than its share of hits from stones.

In my travels around the various newsgroups I find that folks seem to
believe that a bra will cause more harm to the finish than it prevents.
Supposedly this happens because grit gets trapped underneath the bra and
does a number on the paint over time.  But if it is going to be a permanent
installation then maybe it doesn't matter.

I had a bra on my Saturn for 10 years.  I kept it waxed and it looks fine.
You have to make sure to clean the back of the bra.
