Hi all:  Recently, the remote door lock/unlock and trunk unlock features on
my 92 cut. ciera have been malfunctioning intermittently.  I'm having the
same experience with both of the remote sending units, and I've changed the
batteries several times in each so I'm sure the problem isn't weak/dead
batteries.  Would appreciate any advice as to common cause(s) of problem
just described, techniques for troubleshooting, etc.  Thanks for your
replies!  PE

have you checked the car battery as well?. If it is low it may also cause
the problem (not enough power to open the locks). Not likely that all the
locks are wearing or going bad at the same time but if the battery is good
that would be my next suggestion, troubleshoot the car not the remote

Car battery is almost new, as is the alternator, and all appears to be
functioning properly in the electrical system.  I've also now determined
that, if I do so at a time when the keyless system IS working properly, I
can reprogram it using both transmitters, and that, immediately after the
reprogramming is completed, the keyless system will respond properly to both
transmitters.  However, I can return 20 minutes later, start pushing buttons
on the transmitters, and nothing will happen, and thereafter it's back to
intermittent functioning/malfunctioning.  I'm beginning to think the problem
lies in the receiver unit.  Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks again, PE
