Hello All,

New to group........

My wife just purchased a 2003 Alero from a dealer.  It only came with one
key.  How can I tell if the car has factory-equipped keyless entry?  Also,
is there somewhere to find out exactly what options are installed on the
vehicle (website or dealer perhaps, by entering the VIN?)

TIA,
Rick

I'm definitely not an expert on this, but I think factory keyless was
standard equipment on all Alero's. If you have the power door locks, my
guess would be that is the case. If so, You can buy brand new Keyfob GM
transmitters on Ebay all of the time. I think you have to have the dealer
program them but no real sure on that one. They sell really cheap on EBAy
all of the time. A quick look on Ebay and it seems to be you need to have
the dealer program it.
As far as options go, can't help you there.

Yeah, my local dealer (service mgr) was a real piece of work.  I asked him
if he could tell me.  He typed the VIN in the computer and said, "No".  He
also said that the local hardware store couldn't make a spare key for me,
and it would cost $11.49 from him and he'd have to order the special
double-sided blank.   I went to the hardware store anyway and walked out 5
minutes later with a $1.99 spare key.  You think I'll be going back to that
dealer????

Rick
