We recently bought a 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, and it has Spoked
Hubcaps on it.  To get it inspected we need to put E-brake Cables on it,
and we need to get the Tires off to put the cables on.  So  How do I get
the locking centre out without the tool????

     Any Ideas???????!!!!!!!!

           Thanks

If the locking bolts aren't too tight you can work them off with a small
chisel by turning the bolt counter clockwise.

You also could ask around local brake shops to inquire how they deal with
such things.

IF you get the locking bolts out, I would recommend that you replace them
with regular bolts.

I think the OP is talking about the bolt that holds the "fake" spoke
wire wheel covers on. I had an '82 Olds Omega with this setup. The tool
is very "special". Fortunately the previous owner of my car tie-rap'd
the tool inside the trunk so as not to lose it. The problem is the
odd-shape of the bolt head, and it is set deep in the cover after you
remove the decorative center cap. As best I can remember, you might try
a long-nose Vise-Grip pliers, otherwise see if dealer can still get a
replacement tool. Or scout out another owner with same wheel covers :-)

Thanks guys!!

But dad had used the chisel and I think a pair of needle noesed
pliers as well. He got them out, and then just welded a Nut on the end of
it, so all you need know is a 1/2 in socket!!  But less than a week later,
mom was really cleaning the car out, and she found the tool trapped between
the seat and the floor mount for the seat!

     Thanks for the insight!!
