I have a 1988 olds ciera international 3.8litre
I am having to rerplace the mass  air flow sensor for the second time

Has anyone ever tried fixing them,  I took this one apart and there is
a small transparent piece of "plastic" with an embedded circuit that
sits over an opening in the circuit board, presumably so that air can
flow over both sides of the circuit.  It was loose from the board so I
used contact cement to glue it down.  Put it back in the car and voila
it worked perfect.  Problem is it only worked for 1 day.  It is still
glued in place but now it acts the same as before the "fix"  They are
a pricey little item so I was wondering if any of you have had any
luck fixing them?

I had similar problem with my last car (same year and model). When it
failed for the first time (within 6 months of my ownership), I replaced
it with one from a junk yard. It lasted couple of months and the same
problem reoccured. I ended up buying a new (repackaged) one, which
worked for about a year, till it finally quit. Hope you have better
luck with this.

By the way, where are you from? How long you are owning the car?
