I just bought this car for $200. It runs decent but when idling in park
it will idle normal then drop down to a really low idle for about 3
seconds then will pick back up then will go down and back up and so on
and so on. It seems like some kind of sensor going bad but i was told it
could also be the smog pump. The car also has a fairly loud ticking
noise but the oil situation is fine. Any ideas??

???  I was told the check engine light had to be on to check that, and
its not on.  Im not used to these little frontwheel drive pieces  of
junk, im used to driving my rear wheel caprice with a 350. repairs were
so simple with that car. These 4 cyl. engines just confuse me

Try checking your TPS sensor and also the Oxygen sensor is known to cause
Idle fluctuations...
