olds 88 1991 3.8........can anyone tell me how to make my laptop read this computer

Hello people I have a laptop with WINALDL on it and it will read the
1986 s-10 computer data I have but when I plugged it into this olds, it
wouldnt read it........is there software or something else I can do to
get it to work?

The electrical interface to the ALDL connector is a bit different on
the '87 and older GM cars VS '88 and newer. Data rate on older cars is
lower and the ECM data line is connected to a different pin on the
ALDL connector.

You'll need a new ALDL to RS-232 adaptor and possibly an update to the
software. I'd check the software vendor's site for details.
