Hello all, I'm new to the group.  I've just purchased a 93 achieva with the
2.3 dohc.  very happy with the vehicle so far.  While looking through the
service records that the seller was kind enough to include with the car, I
found that recently it was taken in for a tune up, and one spark plug was
found to be cross threaded and the mechanic wouldn't replace it.  I know
this is a bad thing, but what I don't know is what my options are when this
one spark plug stops working.

will the head need to be replaced? or is there a way to tap out the threads?
or is there a different solution?  any advice would be greatly appreciated,
and hopefully one day I can in turn help someone else out.
