There is a procedure that involves entering in a part of the vehicle's VIN
into the radio if it "Theftlocks."
But I have never been able to find out which part, how much of it, or how to
do it. A good friend at any GM dealer should know (and hopefully wouldn't
charge you for such knowledge).

If the radio has never been taken out or modified, why would it go into the
theft lock mode?
