I just got a 1991 Olds 98 as a christmas gift. I saw models above 1992
were supercharged(optional), both the regular 3800 and the series II.
Would it be possilbe to purchase a supercharger for the 3800(not series
II) in my car and install it, and if so, would it be a tough job. The
engine is a 3800

Rick,
The supercharged Series I engines had a lot of parts different than
the regular Series I - lower intake manifold, pistons, connecting
rods, camshaft, engine computer, a number of sensors and various other
parts (including numerous HD parts in the transaxle to handle the
increased power).
The only way to do this swap would be to find a 92~95 GM "C" or "H"
body car that has the supercharged engine (Buick Park Avenue, Olds 98,
Pontiac Bonneville, etc.) and swap out the drivetrain (engine AND
transaxle) AND the engine computer and all it's sensors. It could be
done, but would not be either cheap or easy.
