Hey,  I got a call from the impound lot today that they had found my
Cutlass that was stolen in October, without any damage.  Well, when we
arrived we discovered that they had broken the steering column and
there were pieces of the ignition on the floor.  They obviously drove
it in this condition, but we don't know how we can make it run.
Anyone have any knowledge??

Thanks for your help.

This used to be commonly done on older GM cars.  You could hotwire
then by breaking the ignition switch and jumping the wires to make it
start w/o the key.  I think it could still be done on a 95 Ciera.

You're going to have to replace the ignition switch at the very
least.  You might be able to get the broken part of the steering
column off a junkyard car.
