1999 Olds Cutlass Gasket Replacement

I have a question.  My girlfriend has a 1999 cutlass that she was
using the dex coolant in and now needs a new head gasket she's told.
Basically the cost to have it done is roughly just over $1k but we
don't want to spend that on the car.  It runs good otherwise just
needs that because the test they do in the coolant about mixing with
oil or whatever.

My question is, how easy would it be to replace that and possibly the
intake manifold gasket because i've seen posts that have been on the
net about that being affected by the coolant as well.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I'd have this checked out further, usually it is the intake gaskets on the
3100/3400/ and the upper intake manifold on the 3800, no mention of engine
here.

I'll find out which engine it has.  I know its the V6 3.1 liter if
that helps.  Either way how difficult is it to replace those gaskets
in question?  Thanks.

Tough to answer that as I don't know your level of ability an experienced
tech can do this in 5 hours or so. The procedure is available online, go to
automotive forums.com and do a search for 3.1 intake gaskets, lots of info
there.
