It seemed okay for a bit and I had lots of guts and drove it around my parking lot. Then I took it for a run to put more gas in it and it started acting up again. I had to stop the vehicle, let it sit and then idle my way back home, by stopping and going, ie: let vehicle stall, coast, then let it sit for several minutes, then i can idle again and get it home. albeit stop and go. It is definately an exercise in frustration and patience.

Tom Wenndt - 19 Jun 2007 02:46 GMT I would second the notion that it may very well be your fuel pump.
Mid-80's GM fuel pumps rarely failed to where they wouldn't make noise when you turn the key. But they have some internal parts that begin to fail. When that happens, the fuel pump does not leak fuel, and the only symptom is that your car seems to run ... well, the way yours is running.
Sadly, the only way you can know for sure is to replace it.

Unfortunately, to take it to a shop will cost more than what I paid for the car and something I cannot afford. Is it a big job to replace? I have a bad back, so if it wasnt too much, I could do it over several days or more, as I pay in bad pain, every time I tinker with it. The wreckers might be my next option if it continues the way it is going.

Rev. Tom Wenndt - 20 Jun 2007 00:29 GMT Am not a formal mechanic, and have never worked on a Firenza. But the pump looks like it is an "in-tank" model.
Your best hope is that there is access, either through the back seat (sometimes you just remove the seat bottom cushion, and a cover covering a hole leading into the fuel tank and pump is right there. On some other models, it is way in the front part of the trunk. Thankfully, that is fairly common on sedans. Because if there isn't, the gas tank would have to be dropped, and then you have a mega-job on your hands. But if the hole is there, the job is surprisingly easy.
I might suggest a Haynes auto repair manual. For a job like that, and a car like that, the approximately $15 they cost is well worth it. Check Auto Zone or a similar auto parts store - most of them have them. Once you have it, the manual will tell you quickly what you are dealing with, whether you do it or somebody else.
Hope this helps.
