I have an 83 cutlass.  I would like to make the vehicle a bit faster, so I will be changing to a olds 350 however I am wondering if I can get by with changing the gear in the differential, or do I need a full rear end?  If this is the case can I pull a rearend from any G-Body?

It depends on what gear you have, and what gear you want.  If you have a
2-series carrier (2.73 gear, for example) I believe you are limited to a
3.08 (I could be mistaken) unless the carrier is switched.  If I recall,
your car has a triangulated four link coil spring rear suspension, in
which case I suspect that any A/B/G body through the 80s (up to 96 with
an Impala/Caprice) should bolt in.  I've had good luck finding 3.08/3.23
geared, positraction, disc brake rearends in local junkyards up my way
lately (Denver area, out of 94-96 taxicab Caprices) and something like
this would be killer.
