I have to replace the alternator on my 1995 Aurora w/4.0 L V8. Any
tips? Looks like the only way to get at it is to remove the radiator &
fans? Is there an easier way?
Thanks
Jim
I can't remember specifically, but I'm almost positive you don't remove the
rad. Removing the rad is a major job, you have to discharge the AC and
remove the condenser with the rad. Bi...h of a job. I think that what you
do is remove the belt, remove the AC compressor mounting bolts and let it
hang down on it's hoses.(this is all from underneath the car). Again, from
under the car with the compressor out of the way I think you can remove the
wiring and the lower mounting bolts. I think there's one or two mounting
bolt you get from the top that are quite in the open.
I went out and looked under the hood and while I can't be sure without
looking from underneath, you may not have to even drop the compressor.
Good luck.
