I changed the oil and followed the advice in the owner's manual (pedal to
the floor slowly 3 times in 5 seconds).
I tried this 10 times but could not get the "change oil light" to blink and
start the reset sequence. Has anyone else had this problem?  How was the
problem solved?

It's actually to floor the accelerator pedal within 5 seconds after
turning the ignition key from OFF to ACC.

Never.  I did that 2 weeks ago on my Intrigue.
