I am the owner of a '99 Intrigue and have been very pleased with it over the years up until now. For no specific reason the car won't start on certain occassions. Sometimes after waiting 20 minutes or even 24 hours, it will start right up like nothing was the problem. We have had the car checked out numerous times and have had many tests done on it as well but nothing has been found and the problem still remains. I am hoping someone has had a similar situation and can let me know what I can do to have it fixed. Maybe ten times over 4+ years--Very rare, but annoying when it happens. Someone suggested that it is a faulty ignition coil. I haven't had it checked, so I can't confirm that possibility. Does your car have PASS-KEY (i.e. the resistor chip embedded in the key)? If so, the key is going bad. If you have another fob/set of keys for the car, swap, otherwise go to a Buick or (if you can find one still open) Olds dealer and get a new key made (will need your VIN to do so). I have the same problem with my 2000 Olds. The security light will come on while driving and will go away a few days later. Then all of a sudden one day my car won't start at all. But the keys don't have the chip in them. I wonder how it detects 'valid keys'? Mike |
