Go with the Edelbrock carb. It's more of a performance carb
than the Quadrajet.
BTW, the 455 Olds V-8 in a 1958 Buick sounds like an inter-
esting project.
The motor was in the car when i bought it. I have no complaints and it has
never had any problems so far. The only thing that I dont like is when you
get in to it the carb on there now bogd down for a second and then kicks in.
I already have the edelbrock bought but just wanted some opinions before I
swap the quadrajet out

You could probably have eliminated the bog by adjusting the tension on the
spring for the top plate on the secondaries. It's probably just coming in
too fast.
As to the edelbrock being a performance carb, I would suggest it's
primarily marketing. The body and design of that Edelbrock carb is a Carter
AFB, a high performance carb from the '60's used on the 340 hp 327's in the
62/63 Corvette. Q-jets were used on high performance GM's up to almost 400
horsepower. Carbs in general are old technology and haven't changed or
improved much in the past 40 years anyways. If I wasn't going to upgrade to
an electronic fuel injection system, I'd just tune-up the old q-jet and run
with it.
