I'm going to be purchasing new remotes for my car, but would like to make
sure I know how to program them before I pick them up.  If I buy them and
end up needing to go to the dealer to have my car reprogrammed anyway, I
really didn't end up saving any money.  If anyone knows how this is done
on a 1996 Olds LSS, please give me some detailed instructions.  Thanks.

I believe you need the dealer's scan tool to program these remotes.

I've heard that there is a series of ignition turns and button presses to
program new remotes.  This would save me a lot of money over going to the
dealer and paying their outrageous prices.
