Ok here is what the deal is.  The hvac control head goes dead after you
turn the key off or change the fan speed.  somtimes it comes back on by
closing the door or just hitting a bump in the road.  It does not come on
all the time.  Before I spend 300.00 on this item I would like to know if
there is any way to check and see if this is really what is wrong. The
Chilton book is useless by the way.  a list of items to check would be
nice.

If this is a newer GM product, it's consistent with all the control head
failures I've seen.

What do you mean by newer models?
