I have a 1993 Oldsmobile, Cutlass Ciera S. Excellent condition. Only 49,000
km. Power W/S/L, AC and cruise, so there is a big drain on the battery to
begin with. There seem to be a "short" as the battery will discharge over a
week or so, it not driven everyday. I've tried several things, like taking
out the lamps under the hood and in the trunk. This has not solved the
problem. The only obvious "mechanical" problem is the windshield washer
lever spring is broken and it has to be returned manually to the off
position. Alternator has caused some problem, module replaced and now reads
14-15 volts on the meter. Any help or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks

I went through this with my S-10. We came up with it being the regulator on
the alternator. It was just sticking, which I guess is kind of common. I
took the alternator out, got lucky when I "layed" it on the bed of the
truck and freed it up. That was about 25,000 miles ago and haven't had the
problem since.

Thanks Macaster, I'll have a look at the regulator, hopefully that will
solve my problem.  Sticking sounds like my problem too, as it is very
unpredictable, works for several weeks and then drains the battery.  Thanks
again.
