Thanks for the help. It's been 30 years since I even had to "think" about these
things, but I will check what you mentioned. I had someone watching while I sat
in the car, and brakes, head and tail lights worked --but I don't know the
specifics. Just figured it had to be in the wiring since I couldn't get the turn
signals to work in the back OR front. (I was also swayed by the fact that the
flasher didn't even seem to work, since I didn't hear any noise from it, and I
had it right in my hand (all of the wiring is exposed).

The flasher won't work if the bulbs are burnt out if it's the original type
flasher. They require the amperage of the bulb load to make them flash.
They're designed that way so it will alert you if a bulb burns out by not
flashing. Replacement HD flashers used when towing a trailer are not load
sensitive and will flash with bulbs burnt out. You also may have been
holding the hazard flasher which looks identical. You may well have a
problem in the wiring/turnsignal switch, but start at the bulbs.
