My new (to me) Aurora still seems to run hot, as indicated by the
Temp Gauge. When in stop & go traffic the Temp gauge routinely goes up
to & over the first line past the 200 degrees F. line, which I guess is
close to 220 degrees. This is happening in cool ~65 degree F weather.
----- Both fans do come on (now, after reconnecting the temp
sensor/switch on bottom of radiator). Car also has a recent new
radiator.
Any suggestions, ([even] pull, or change) the 195? or 205? degree
thermostat? Something with the electronic fan speed regulator? Is it
meant to run comfortably above the Boiling Point?
Just don't want to hurt the big A.

Thanks Much IA, --- just dave

My Aurora (96) has always run what I thought was a tad warm and while I
haven't owned it since new, it was under warranty when I got it so it was
still pretty new.  .  I can't relate in exact degrees because my temp gauge
reads in Celcius.  100 C is equal to 212 F and I'm always 95 or over.  At 40
below it still sits at 95.  I'd ssay your situation is absolutely normal and
I woldn't change the stat.  Remember, these northstars also have significant
oil coolers and were advertised by Cadillac as being able to run 50 miles
with no coolant at all (limp mode)

If it's not in the red, don't worry, be happy.
