I just bought this 2000 Intrigue and just wondering how to get the cap off
to expose the filter.

You'll need a wrench that fits the newer ACDelco filters. It fits the
plastic cap too.

If your 2000 machine is the same as my wife's 2002 you need one of those
end-cap style oil filter wrenches that is about 3-1/8" in diameter with 15
flutes.
