So I bought this car for $300 bucks knowing problems with the car,
power steering pump is out for instance. Well the car drove fine until
today when I was driving to work from school. All of a sudden my car
seemed to be acting weird. The car started shaking and I looked under
the hood and pressed the throttle. Some hissing noise is was coming
out on the left upper side of the engine. I took out the 3 spark plugs
wires and they were firing correclty. I cannot change my back spark
plugs since it?s kinda hard without lifting the engine up. Some
friends say its my spark plugs and wires going out, and others say its
my tranny. I don?t know what to do, so i?m hoping you guys can help me
out. 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme International, sedan, V6, 3.4L,
auto.
And I was wondering if it?s easy to replace the power steering pump,
and is there an easy way to change the back spark plugs. And why my
car drinks gas like some dude drinking coke.

The problem with back yard mechanics is we usually lack the tools needed for
a proper diagnoses. I have owned two old cutlass supreme and have
encountered many similar problems as you are having. I had a friend with
computerized diagnostic equip. so I was able to hook up my cars and check
them out.. This was how I found that I needed an ECM (Electronic Control
Module). All the problems you mention are just like problems I was having.
That's not to say that this is your problem, but you should get this checked
before you spend more money. ECMs are not cheap, I bought used from the
wrecker. Also buy the repair manual for you car I found it very useful.
Hope this helps.
