HELP PLEASE ENGINE LIGHT ON

MY 87 DELTA 88 IS ACTING UP. IT ALL STARTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO.I STARTED
IT AND WHEN I WENT TO STARTED IT AGAIN TO GET HOME IT WOULDN'T START.I HAD
IT TOWED.

I WENT OUT THE OTHER DAY AND IT STARTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.I HAD THE
STARTER,ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY CHECKED.ALL WAS GOOD.

I WENT OUT TODAY AND AFTER ABOUT 15 MINS OF DRIVING THE SERVICE SOON LIGHT
CAME ON.(I WAS IN PARK).DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS LIGHT MEANS?

PLEASE HELP ME FIND OUT WHAT THIS MEANS.

Please don't shout.

The Service Engine Light ON means either the ECM has failed or the ECM
has detected a problem. In order to determine what problem the ECM
detected, you would need a scanner, or put the ECM in field service
mode which cause it to blink the SES light to indicate what problems
it has detected.

JoJo..

As I am sure that you will..please let us know the updated status of your
vehicle..if you are in need of another engine..before you buy locally or
from a company let me know. I have a LIKE NEW engine in my 94 Olds 88--
should be the same but not sure..just let me know if the condition is
serious or what kind of things you may have to have replaced because I am
SURE that I have them on my vehicle..and would love to get rid of them.
