94 Cutlass Supreme transmission issue

I have a 94 Cutlass Supreme and I'm not sure if there's a problem or not
with my transmission.  When driving at highway speed, if I completely lift
off the gas the engine will drop to idle which tells me that the torque
converter is unlocking.  Once I step on the gas again, it'll rev up a few
hundred RPM over where it should be and the torque converter will lock up
again making the revs drop back a bit.  This locking/unlocking isn't very
noticeable (doesn't shake the car or anything) but it just doesn't feel
right.

Now, for all I know this could be perfectly normal.  I'm used to driving
standards and while I have owned a few automatics, I can't remember any of
them behaving in this manor.

Any thoughts?

Sounds about right, but without the feel of driving, who knows?
