I have a 2000 and over the last few months the car has developed a
clunking (not a clicking sound - but a clunking) sound in the front
end. It appears to happen when going over bumps and when the brakes
are applied.

I’ve received a couple of conflicking analysys’. One involves the CV
joints being worn. Another mechanic said that I would have a clicking
sound all the time if it was the CV joints. The second mechanic said
the front struts are worn out.

Would anyone have any suggestions?

Any help would be appreciated.

My 98 does that too. I thought it might be warped disc brake parts but
haven't actually checked it.  The dealer wanted a thousand last time,
but it was under warranty at that time.  We fixed it but now it is
doing the same thing again if I remember correctly as to exactly what
it was doing at the time.

Mine is just when brakes are applied, not bumps per se.
