line)......what do i need to do to fix this? The heater and blower all
work....its just that the a/c compressor doesn’t want to kick in. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Its a 1991 olds 98...........

Where did code 38 come from, the bcm or pcm, code 38 is a TCC circuit
problem, did you access through the a/c control like Cadillac?

Shep.....

The code came from the climate control unit.....(a/c contols).....The
manual i have says a code 38 from the a/c unit is a  "serial data
link problem".... but after that, the manual says nothing.....Thanks
for any info you can share...

Generally this refers to the communication from the bcm to the control unit,
specifically what is wrong , you will need the Cad manual, or an Alldata
subscription.

Shep......

Specifically, everything works except the a/c....fan/heat....but the
compressor does not engage. I got a flashing temp light on the control
unit signaling a problem, entered the climate control computer, and it
gave me a code 38.  I’m just looking for a place to start.....Thanks
again
