1988 Trofeo' Electical Mystery

My 1988 Trofeo, just came up with this, and has stumped many people.  My
Electronic Climate Control system keeps blowing fuses.  Now, If I replace
the fuse, and start the car, it will work fine, for hours and hours.  When
I put the car in gear, and drive, the fuse will blow, usually within 2 to
10 minutes.  Facts:  the fuse that blows is in the fuse box listed as
"A/C", and is 20 amp.  I've tried a 25 amp, that still blew, and I've
disconnected the power to the compresser, and still blows.  the ECC can be
off, and will still blow the fuse.

Anyone else have this problem?  This ECC was put into many Olds, Buicks,
and Cadilacs.

Please help, thanks, Ken

Don't have a wiring diagram for your specific vehicle.  Took a look on the
AutoZone site.  The Cadillacs of that vintage might have an ECC similar to
or identical to yours.

If so I would start lifting power to other individual items in the system.
For example the ECC programmer module and the climate control panel both
have feeds from the fuse you mentioned.  You may also have a fan control
relay, and if so it, too, comes from the fuse that is blowing.

Your best help in tracking down this problem would be an accurate wiring
diagram.  Then you can start logically disconnecting suspects one by one
until you find the culprit.

Do not overlook the possibility of a bare wire somewhere that is grounding
out from driving vibrations.

Kind of sounds like a relay.  I don't know where it is on that car but
maybe someone here can give you a hint.
