> Be American. Buy American.
You are correct in pointing out that this issue is anything but black and
white, and my emotions are admittedly torn by it. However, with that said,
I still could not possibly ever bring myself to buy a foreign car even if it
is built in the US by Americans (unless we get to the point where there are
no longer any American made autos). Yes, it's a good thing that Americans
are employed building these "foreign" cars, but it's not so good that the
profits are being siphoned off overseas. Can we reach the point that our
country's economy is on shaky ground because too many Americans are employed
by foreign companies?
My position on car buying is based mostly on patriotism pure and simple, and
can be attacked as being irrational and maybe even illogical. My only hope,
and the reason for my stand, is that my family, friends, neighbors, you and
yours, and all other Americans now and in the future can continue to enjoy
the standard of living we presently have. I understand that things are
changing rapidly, and we are in an era of a global economy, but it seems to
me that Americans need to manufacture something in order to prosper. I'll
be there to buy whatever it is my countrymen produce. I will now step down
from my soapbox and ready myself to fend off a barrage of rotten tomatoes
and mud. Thanks for the opportunity to speak out.

Buy what you want. I have a 2002 Alero. Based on my 84000 mile luck
with it, I will never own a GM vehicle again. It is a piece of crap.

i had a ford for 2 years. taurus. what a piece of sh.t.
then i bought a buick roadmaster. what a delight! so much confort, so much
space, such an easy ride!
now, a relative of mine just spent over $20.000 on a 2002 jetta. every god
damn weekend it is at the dealership. 2 water pumps in 35.000 miles, 1 fuel
line, front struts, engine sensors, electrical problems, steering, brakes.
buy german, they are made by mexicans.
as for the jap, first time i rode a civic was the last time as well. i want
to live, i want kids, i want a future! you do the math.
i agree 100% with saundersbe@gmail.com
ps: if you want a snall engine car, 4 cyl. but jap.
if you want a car, a real car, buy a gm.
remember, in US fuel is cheaper than water.
