I need to fix the left turn signal light on my 1990 cutlass cierra.

when used, it is a steady light (both on the dash and outside of the
car) instead of a blinking light. Sounds like I need to replace the
relay. The only problem is, I dont know where the hell to begin. I’ve
kinda just always heard about such a problem spoken in theory, never
really applied it in the real world.

All I know is, ive looked in the fuse panel and its not there
according to my impatient mechanic of a father...he told me its
probably inside the panel underneath the steering column. I took it
off only to find a mess of wires.

Can anybody give me any info I need to know about this? any info at
all? About finding it, replacing it, etc.

I checked the repair info on autozone.com. it wasnt very helpful.

Can we assume that the right blinker is functioning?  If so I think that you
are on a cold trail by looking for a left side blinker "relay", which is
actually a flasher unit.  As far as I know the same flasher serves both
sides.  Your description is a classic symptom of a burned out light bulb, a
bad/corroded socket, or a poor ground on one of the left side turn signal
lamps.

I agree with the ground answer. I had a similar problem on my 79 olds and
replacing one of the light sockets solved the problem. Check there first for
an easy fix
