Yes, it is true.  The Germans may have invaded France and conquered us
without a fight.  However, in addition to driving them out of our country,
we build a better car than they do.

And then? I think that you should stop associating Peugeot with blind
nationalism... Or smoking crack.
Et après? Je pense que tu devrais arrêter d'associer Peugeot et
nationalisme aveugle. Ou tout simplement le crack.

I will never buy a french car, (nor any european), and certainly not a
peugeot again, since after 50000 kms during 5 years the ECU and the coil
should be replaced at the cost of 1100 euros. And I am not the only victim.
(ask, confidentially, a peugeot mechanic, how many times this happens, and
you will be surprised)

Thats the problem with modern all-electronic cars - too much to go wrong,
but thats the price of eco-friendlier cars and engine control. I have to say
ive heard of far more problems with other makes.

Well, I for one am waiting with baited breath for some 407 road tests and
reviews.  I have to order a new company car for August and was considering
another 320d Sport but the 407 and all it's toys plus Sat Nav on the 2.0d
136 Exec has caught my eye (I'm a  sucker for gadgets)... here's hoping it
gets a good write up.

On Sun, 18 Apr 2004 21:52:05 GMT, a particular chimpanzee named

_Who_ drove them out?!  The Germans would have been happy to sit there
being served vin by your collaborators if it hadn't been for the
British, Americans, Canadians, etc.

Please, don't insult our intelligence. I currently own a 2000 year 406 HDi
and it is the most unreliable, poorly built car I've ever had the
misfortune to run. (Sudden engine power loss problems, air bag electrics
going wrong all the time, indicator stalk replacements, rattles etc.) The
Peugeot dealers are useless to.

Whilst German cars are boring, bland to own, drive and they are vastly
overrated re quality / reliability (it's a cunning myth spread by ignorant
motorists) they are better than Peugeot. The only manufacturer who is
probably worse than Peugeot is Fiat.

Talking mainstream producers, if you want quality and reliability (but dull
to drive) then buy Japanese. If you want a dynamic drivers car in a
mainstream model, which is often better than the Germans, particularly VW
then buy a Ford i.e. a Focus or Mondeo.

Our family has had nothing but trouble with their Polo's (engine/gearbox
from new / electrics), 3 Series (from new, transmission), Audi A4 (from new
burning oil / rear suspension replaced 3 times), Merc C and E Classes
(Turbo's always blowing and severe tracking/tyre use issues, build quality
has dropped big time).

Oh yes, it was the Brits and Americans who got rid of the Germans out of
France but the allies let De Gaulle walk into Paris with the French troops
first to do him a massive favour in reuniting France. It was also to help
him at a personal level to ensure he took political control of post-war
France. A very generous favour from the allies, which De Gaulle never had
the grace to properly acknowledge within or outside of France.
I'm sure the world forgives people for such selective memory so we still
say, in the main, 'vive le france'.
