I'm trying to raise funds for the Appeal.

If you fancy a punt with a 1 in 40 or better chance of winning then please
have a look here.

If you don't think I should do this or try and promote it here then I
apolgise unreservedly and request that any ensuing flame war does not block
this NG

Yes it is. That is the whole object - to make some money for the disaster
relief appeal.

The way I read it is that you are selling the tickets for ?3.00 to make
money for the appeal, and then charging ?7.00 post and packing to send them
out, which won't be going to the appeal. If it were all going to the appeal,
why set it up in this way?

Brian, what he is doing is a fee dodge employed now by many eBay sellers.

Ebay charges are based on the actual cost of the item and not the delivery
charge.

So sellers are now placing say a Guitar on for Buy It Now ?50 with a
delivery charge of ?200. The costs to the seller are much reduced and eBay
are missing out on some fees.

as for the auction..........I don't agree with anyone setting up their own
collection as noone knows where the dosh goes no matter what the collector
says............better to give to the big 12 official peeps. Even there, it
is purported that only 1/3 gets to the people that need it.

Also if you donate directly to the charities involved, you tick the little
gift aid box and that nice Chancellor gives them your tax back as well
(assuming that one is a UK taxpayer).
I know some years ago there was some concern over the amount of money some
charities actually passed on, I hope there has been some improvement more
recently.
