I have got Peugeot 406 1.8 16v 81kw, 62000km.
My cas is good running, good idle, no mistakes on garage
inspection....everything good......
but....When I change a gear from first to second (and from 3 to 4 but
less) that process isn't smooth. Car little jerking or kick back (just
not smooth).
Can you describe me how is it on your car. Perhapse this is normal for
this car and perhapse is my clutch (pressure plate) is starting fail.
Thanks
I have the same model, 406 1.8, 16v (1998 estate) now with 100,000miles on
it. The cable clutch is less than perfect....they always tend to let go in a
jerky way (I tried pumping it through with grease to no effect). Could be
the g/box though...the service record shows that my estate had a new box at
52,000 miles before I got it (I don't know why though).

Change the cable, it's as simple as that.
