I had a new rear "axle" assembly fitted to my 205 recently but the
torsion bar is knackered so I?m probably going to fit another from a
scrapyard.

I found a 1.9GTi in a scrapyard and want it?s rear axle but I need to
know several things.
1. Will it fit a standard 205?
2. Where are the rear brake compensators?
3. Are the fluid capacities the same i.e. would I need a new reservoir
etc?
4. How much of the pipes would I need?

Cheers  :D

Hi,

You may have read my earlier posting about my seized rear suspension
assembly (309 1.9 Gti), anyway, if you didn't I need one !!! Apparently,
well, the axle stubs on the 309 are wider than the 205, the ride height is
higher and it has a fatter anti roll bar, other than that they are the
same... If you find a 205 one or decide otherwise you do not want the 309
Gti axle, please let me know of the secret whereabouts of said scrapyard as
I have been trying to source one with no such luck..

Regards

It’s a 205 one that I’ve got, sorry. I’ve also just found the
compensators on the donor car, they were lurking behind the fuel tank
:)

If you live anywhere near it, the scrapyard if off junction 25 of the
M62 on the A644. They usually have a high class of cars but they don’t
have any 309s at the moment.
Another good scrapyard is near Queensferry (North East Wales) on the
A550. This one is huge and has a lot of big engined Peugeots (except
205s for some reason) but I don’t know if they have any 309s in. They
would have 306s that might have rear axles that can fit, if they are
any use  :?

Cheers
