Does anyone know what the sunshine sensor does? (on top of the dash, in the
middle, between the windscreen vents)
I know it's something to do with the automatic air con but what?
This is on a 1999 406 with climate.

Initially I thought it was the alarm warning light.

Thanks
Steve

This is a rain sensor and is used to switch the wipers on when the wiper
switch is in the appropriate position is it rains on the screen

Hi

Steve is asking about the SUN sensor on the dash, Its part of the climate
control on the 406, NOT the rain sensor behind the rear view mirror.

2 totally different sensors.
Steve Robinson - 20 Apr 2005 19:22 GMT
Lee - that's right.
The rain sensor is at the top of the screen.
The sunshine sensor is at the bottom.
It looks a bit like an neon warning light for an alarm system.
This doesn't do anything visible.

I can't work out what it does. Surely, on auto, the temperature goes to
whatever you set it at whether the sun is out or not?

Hi

As well as that sun sensor, The climate control uses the outside temp
sensor in the passenger side door mirror & the interior temp sensor in the
roof consul next to the courtesy light.

I will try & remember to ask my mate at Peugeot how it all works when I see
him again.

The climate control is very good apart from one problem, When it turns
itself on before you even start the engine, That got on my nerves when I
had my 406 GLX.

Have you found the hidden tray for the handbook yet Steve?

Its under the passenger seat on the high spec 406s.
Steve Robinson - 22 Apr 2005 21:28 GMT
Lee
mines obviously not high spec enough.
Nothing under the seat!

I would be interested to hear what your mate has to say though.
I can't even begin to think why the sun sensor is needed.
Cheers
Steve
