I've just bought a 306 hdi, which I thinking of having the ecu remapped by
speed-busters. Anyone else had this done and can give feedback on results?

Thanks.

Don't go to "speed-busters".

Do go to http://www.vanaaken.com/europe/index.asp and
http://www.allardturbosport.co.uk/ They've both been around for a long long
time, and know exactly what they're doing - unlike many of the more recent
folks hopping on the TurboDiesel bandwagon...

My motivation for choosing speed-busters is both cost, and that they change
values stored in the ecu as opposed to needing a visibly add-on box.

I don't think they are hopping on a bandwagon as the company
(http://www.speed-buster.de/en/index_chiptuning.html) has been doing it
since 1996. The guy's advert i saw on ebay and has 100% feedback on the
service since 2003.

I'm interested if anyone has had it done and if they could comment on:
a) what difference it makes to 0-60 time / top speed
b) any negative side effects - reliability (emmissions?), fuel economy etc

Thanks

You pays your money, you makes your choice. I'd stick with the veterans if
it were me.

You can calculate these differences yourself using the before and after
power figures, but the numbers are meaningless. The point is, your car WILL
be quicker - if that's what you want, then get it done. Top speed won't
change much, as the tuning concentrates more on raising the mid-range torque
to improve the in-gear (ie, overtaking) times.

Diesel tweaking of this nature is tried and tested. If you want more power,
then go for it !

Not that you'll notice. Obviously the tweaked engine isn't gonna last as
long as the standard one, but that's not an issue unless you plan to keep
the car until the end of it's life (ie, ten more years or whatever !)
