I have a Peugeot 106 Escapade (N Reg - 1996) and it has been making a
very strange noise over the past few months.
Sometimes when I accelerate, I get this weird noise coming from just
behind the dash - it sounds like water full of grit / sand being
pushed around the pipes. Doesn’t happen all the time, but just want to
know what it is. i.e. is my car about to pack up and die.
Will take it to a mechanic to have a look at but as I said, it doesn’t
always happen so it may be difficult to diagnose.

The car itself is a very good condition for an N reg with 95,000 miles
on the clock and, touch wood, it has never broken down on me.

Just wondering if anyone out there has had the same problem or may
know what it is.

Thanks.

Had the same problem with a 206 - the problem was loss of water, which gave
a dripping, "sandy" sound when (too little) water moved inside the system
when accelerating/decelerating. Have you checked the water level?

Thanks for your response. I also spoke to a mechanic and explained the
problem and he suggested the exact same thing.
I’ll sort this weekend.

Thanks again.
